Nessun uomo volesse avvicinarsi alle baccanti, né un cittadino romano, né uno di diritto latino né un alleato, se non si fosse presentato dal pretore urbano ed egli avesse dato l’autorizzazione, conforme al parere del senato, purché fossero presenti non meno di cento senatori, quando tale questione venisse  discussa. Nessun uomo fosse sacerdote. Nessun uomo o donna fosse capo. Nessuno di loro fosse tesoriere di denaro comune né volesse nominare uomo o donna magistrato o vice magistrato. Né d’ora in poi volesse vincolarsi con giuramenti, con voti, con promesse, con obblighi, né volesse stabilire rapporti reciproci di fiducia. Nessuno volesse celebrare riti sacri in segreto. Nessuno volesse celebrare riti sacri né in pubblico né in privato né fuori città, se non si fosse presentato dal pretore urbano ed egli avesse dato l’autorizzazione conforme al parere del senato, purché fossero presenti non meno di cento senatori, quando tale questione venga discussa. Hanno deciso. Nessuno volesse celebrare riti sacri se fossero presenti più di cinque persone, uomini e donne, e tra di essi non volessero essere presenti più di due uomini e più di tre donne, qualora non vi fosse l’autorizzazione del pretore urbano e del senato, come sopra è stato scritto.

La loro decisione è stata questa, che rendiate pubbliche queste decisioni nell’assemblea di non meno di tre mercati consecutivi e conosceste il parere del senato: “Se vi fosse qualcuno che agisse in modo contrario a queste prescrizioni, nei limiti di quanto è stato scritto sopra, hanno deciso che bisognasse intentare loro un processo capitale”.
